These Club wines were picked for two reasons. One: These frizzante wines are incredibly food friendly, they’re perfect for the holiday season. Two: This club is about exploration, about trying new things and broadening your wine horizons. So loosen up and have fun with these two bottles, they are the epitome of festive and fun. Chug ‘em down, they’re low in alcohol so they slip down the gullet with ease!
The grape here is Pignoletto, a grape that is known for producing wines that are lively, crisp, aromatic and a bit tart. The Moretto Pignoletto has aromas of pear, melon, and spun sugar. It’s round and creamy in the mouth with flavors of white fleshed fruit and a burst of crisp acidity. Pair this frothy wine with elegant hors d’oeuvres at your next holiday party. It’s wonderful with hard cheeses like Pecorino and lovely with seafood, it’s particularly pleasant with Smoked Trout Rillettes.
Fattoria Moretto is run by Fausto and Fabio Altariva. They farm the vineyards organically and are located in Emilia-Romagna in Northern Italy. Emilia-Romagna spans almost the entire width of the northern Italian peninsula, sandwiched between Tuscany to the south, Lombardy and Veneto to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the east. Nine miles of Liguria is all that separates Emilia-Romagna from the Ligurian Sea, and uniqueness as the only Italian region with both an east and a west coast.
