Dedalus Wine

Bodega Atamisque “Catalpa” malbec 2009

This 100% malbec from Mendoza is named after a flowering plant grown in North America, the Caribbean, and East Asia.  The vineyard is 70 years old and located in the Alto Tupungato area of Mendoza, that’s known for being one of the best areas for growing wine in Argentina.  The vines are above 4000 feet granting them cool temperatures that offset the warm sun.   This wine has received good “points” from the wine press, but we don’t do scores at Dedalus.

This is a full bodied wine that really coats the entire mouth.  Flavors of stewed cherries, coffee, and raisins fill the mouth.  With some mouthwatering acid on the finish, I really sense more fruit and tannins than acid on the finish, probably coming from the 40% new French oak barrels.

Pair with roasted pork or roasted duck or enjoy as a full-bodied wine on its own.
