Here is an opportunity to take control of your own happiness.
Cap de Faugères, a Bordeaux bottling from the Cotes de Castillion, is the ultimate feel-good wine. It’s a powerhouse – big, rich and exciting. Vintage after vintage the wine is plush, velvety, and loaded with plum, blackberry, black cherry pie, vanilla, and espresso aromatics. Give the wine a few years in the cellar, and you can add leather, pipe smoke, black tea and roasted meat to that description. And it’s a fantastic food wine – good with a bit of Roquefort, great with a Delmonico, even better with a burger, out-of-your-mind fantastic with prime rib.
This is a blend of 85% Merlot with Cabernet and Cabernet Franc filling out the remainder. The Merlot gives a softness and drinkability to wine, while the Cab and Cab Franc give structure. This wine will age nicely or decant it for an hour and watch it open up beautifully.
Côtes de Castillon is a recent appellation on the rise. It gives an excellent price/quality ratio as new wine makers are settling down to make some of the most interesting wines in the Bordeaux region today.
This wine is downright inexpensive. I fully expect a bottle of Bordeaux this good to set me back $45 to $50. Well, we’ve got a great deal for you, we sell this wine for $36/bottle in the shop. But act fast – we’ve only got five cases!
