I like my Sauvignon Blanc to be interesting. Is that too much to ask? But wait! I also want it to be crisp, steely, flinty, smoky, minerally, bright, and clean. So… it’s a lengthy list, but no worries, it’s an easy list of demands for the Régis Minet Pouilly Fumé to accomodate.
The wine offers a fresh aroma that reminds me that warmer weather will eventually be here. It transports me to tee shirts and flip flops and away from scarves and boots. It delivers a palate of smoky citrus, like a grilled lemon, and cold, stony herbal notes, like dill and fennel smashed with river stones. An edge of chalk, sea salt, and lime zest keep me coming back for another sip and another. It’s both fleshy and crisp with an incredible satiny texture that is mouth-filling one moment and gone in a scouring flourish the next!
It makes a beautiful partner to fresh vegetables, firm fleshed fish (halibut), and even grilled chicken. But here’s my perfect pairing… Grilled Shrimp skewers with lemon and bay leaves and Fennel Risotto.
I recommend you give it a try the next time you want your white wine to wow you!
