The fruit for this bottle comes from legendary biodynamic Napa Valley estate, Aurajo, in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley. The well-draining gravel soils of Oak Knoll mirror that of Bordeaux, resulting in an elegant, powerful, and structured Cabernet Sauvignon.
2017 in Napa Valley was nothing short of chaotic: hail, sleet, intense summer heat, then a series of forrest fires. A few producers managed to find some peace amongst this chaos, Rudd being our favorite. This wine finds harmony in troubling times, and the result is even better for it.
Seriously dedicated to organic farming, the team at La Spinee is working toward restoring the terroir of the Veneto. Piave may be better known for a cheese by the same name, but this Cabernet Sauvignon could be the new headliner. It’s big, bold, and deserves to be paired with grilled meats.
Jean-François Fillastre as a winemaker is a quiet legend in the Bordeaux region, crafting soulful wine out of his humble estate not for consumers, but for himself. We just happen to be lucky enough to get to enjoy it too. This cuvée is pure structure, elegance shouting the minerality of it’s soil. Enjoy with poultry.
Matthiasson Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Dead Fred Vineyard 2016
A single vineyard wine should have its own story to tell, a unique personality, and an innate balance and completeness. The “Dead Fred Vineyard” provides just that, as it sits atop volcanic soil, with perfect south-western sun exposure. It is full-bodied and carries weight, but without heaviness.
Matthiasson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Village No. 2 2018
This everyday Cab Sauv was made with you in mind - the perfect Tuesday night bottle of Cab, not too heavy and not too light. Matthiason maintains freshness by harvesting early, preserving both the natural acidity and the integrity of the fruit. This makes it perfectly versatile on the dinner table.
This estate is located in the Wrattonbully wine region, the northern neighbour of Coonawarra, in South Australia. The wine is powerful, rich, and ripe, with an elegant balance of florality and tannic structure. Perfect to enjoy with veal or lamb.
This Rudd Cabernet Sauvignon is quintessential “Napa Cab” with our favorite twist: low intervention, sustainable farming practices. Fine tannins and ample acidity form the structure of this wine, while ripe red fruit delivers freshness on the palate. This is an incredible example of agability in wine - drink now or hang on to it as it’s only getting better.
