When we think “old World Chardonnay” our minds immediately head to Burgundy, but this Piemontese Chardonnay is a close second! The high altitude of these vines brings lightness, brightness, and freshness to this mineral-driven expression of Chardonnay.
Winemaker Rafael Tirado is making some wines that we can get behind, and at a great price. Using Riesling, Chardonnay and Semillon, this lightweight wine is refreshing with stunning acidity, crisp orchard fruits, and white flowers. Bring this bottle to your friends dinner party as an aperitif and enjoy!

“Reductive” is a big buzz word when it comes to white Burgundy. If you’re looking for a perfect example of a reductive wine, look no further. This Chardonnay boasts notes of toasty, burnt matchstick, with a hint of flint - emblematic of reductive winemaking.
Now here is the real deal. I've had many independently fantastic winemakers in Burgundy refer to Jean-Marc as one of the best winegrowers in all of Burgundy. Attention to detail is extreme here, with serious care given to harvesting the highest quality of fruit. Sourced from a small parcel in Chassagne-Montrachet, Jean-Marc nails the balance between precision and decadence in his whites. This superb 2017 gives up notes of lemon curd, Granny Smith apple, and oyster shell. Pair this up with a roast chicken. Trust me.
Winemakers Frédéric Gueugneau and Benoit Pagot obsess over organic farming and also over barrels, using only a single cooper based in Cognac, and the attention to detail is evident in this Bourgogne Chardonnay that out-performs wines in this same category.
A staple at the shop and hands-down one of the best values in Burgundy that you are likely to find. Jean-Jaques Robert is a staunch defender of his terroir and translates the beauty of his vineyards microclimates with the finesse of a master painter. Often compared to the greater wines of the Cote de Beaune but at a fraction of the price. This wine is truly not to be missed.
Matthiasson makes some of our favorite California wines - period. For them, winemaking is an extension of farming, so their wines are meant to be refreshing & complement food. Their Linda Vista Chardonnay is pure honey, apple & peach on the nose with a fleshy, balanced palate.
Looking for something refreshing and dry? This bottle is for you. This Petit Chablis is a stunning example of what Chardonnay can be! Sourced from higher slopes around the outskirts of the Chablis appellation, this wine has very bright acidity and zesty citrus notes.
Lumpp Givry 1er Cru Blanc Clos des Vignes Rondes 2017
Côte Chalonnaise winemaker François Lumpp may just be the biggest hidden gem in all of Burgundy. his wines are seriously pleasureable from the get-go, and offer incredible value relative to the rest of the region. This Chardonnay is from his oldest vines, striking the balance between weight and elegance.
Bruno Colin’s Côte de Beaune Chardonnay is one of the very best jumping-off points for white Burgundy lovers we carry. All hallmarks of quality Burgundian chardonnay are present here: clean chalk-minerality, rich Chardonnay fruit, with just enough acidity to keep it all in balance.
If you served me a glass of this stunning, mineral Chardonnay blind, I’d confidently call high-class Meursault or Puligny in a second. But no, for half the price, this creamy, fresh white is brimming with minerals, lemon curd, and white floral notes. Pair with roast fish, poached lobster, or stinky cheese.
The Savary family has built up their domaine from the ground up. They started off small and began producing their own cuveés in 1990. This 1er cru bottle is more structured and powerful than the average Chablis - it is layered and complex. Will age with grace.
It’s easy to see what Francois’s wines are considered to be a staple of some of the best wine lists in France. Powerful and refined, these wines can stand in the cellar with some of the best of Beaune, and yet be ready for that butter-poached lobster tonight.
Do not pass up this supreme value in top-tier White Burgundy. Jean-Marc exclusively works terroir that is considered “lesser” than those in Puligny & Meursault, but is considered by many to be one of the best winegrowers in Burgundy. This Montagny Blanc will make you a believer. Enjoy with roast chicken.
We are in a constant love affair with the intriguing whites from the Jura. This delicious, complex cuvee of Savagnin & Chardonnay is made in an extremely oxidative style - creating a salted nutty butterscotch like wine that is both rich yet refreshing with racy acidity. Think Sherry, but better!
For a glimpse at what is considered one of the great wineries of California history look no further. High elevation, mountain wine that exercises elegance and finesse over rich and ripe. This bottle of Estate Chardonnay is racy, with bountiful citrus and crispy pear and apple. A next-level California classic.
Producing utterly satisfying Chardonnay out of the Santa Maria Valley, Presqu’ile never fails to disappoint in their delivery. This cuvée is both complex & poised, yet vivacious at the same time. Creamy in texture, with a buttery-vanilla richness, it has no shortage of ripe lemon citrus & pairs perfectly with salmon.
This wine is not your average Burgundian blanc. As you can see, it’s Pinot Blanc! It’s rich on the palate & has a beautiful floral nose with a wisp of turmeric and coriander. Enjoy a glass with some friends over some flaky fish tacos and prepare to be amazed.
The Alesia label designates estate-grown wines of Rhys, one of our favorite domestic producers. This wine is orchard fruited, with notes of butter, honeysuckle, and fresh juicy peach. It nods toward an Old World style, while maintaining a sense of New World terroir.
Monsieur Fornerol’s Villages level wines seriously overdeliver. After spending most of his career in the vineyard and the cellar with some of the undisputed masters of Burgundy, he has learned a few tricks. This is rich and round Chardonnay with a layer of gently toasted oak beneath the zesty citrus core.
