More Info

Since 2008, Dominique Lafon has been producing high-wire Burgundy from owned and rented vineyards in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet & Beaune. This Pinot Noir is a sleek, structured testament to his Midas touch. Dominique prefers fruit from upper hillside slopes, and you can feel the tension and minerality in every sip. Even outside of the prized midslopes, he crafts wines that pack all the complexity of a heritage domaine. Keep some of this on hand and instantly elevate your table, leaving everyone starry eyed.

The premier cru Vignes Franches vineyard is one of the southernmost 1er crus of Beaune, close to the border of Pommard. Dominique sources his fruit from a grower there and vinifies it Château de Bligny-Lès-Beaune, a custom crush facility he operates with a friend. If there’s still stigma around negociant wines in Burgundy, this bottle blasts it to dust. Medium bodied, with aromas of peony, ripe cherry and raspberry, powdery tannins and a long silky finish. Buy a bottle for now, and a few more for the cellar — it’s only getting better.
