Les Lunes Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Think twice before you write this off as just another California Cab Sauv. First, think about the fact that not all California Cabernet is created equal, and the best of them are mindboggling things of beauty. Second, Shaunt Oungoulian and Diego Roig aren’t in the business of average. This is a stereotype busting Cab Sauv. A classically styled natural wine that can’t be tamed.

Like all the best wines, it starts with farming. Shaunt and Diego have secured decades long leases on a number of plots throughout Sonoma County and the Sierra Foothills. They tend all their vines by hand, sustainably. This cuvée sees the addition of small parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc for balance. Part of it is vinified as a rosé and blended in later for freshness and balance, before the wine is aged in neutral oak. It’s bright and juicy with notes of berries, earthiness and spice right in line with the Bordeaux blends that inspired it.
