When importing legend Kermit Lynch got wind of one of the Southern Rhône’s most prestigious domaines going up for sale in Gigondas, he rushed immediately to implore the illustrious brothers Brunier of Vieux Télégraphe fame in Châteauneuf to help preserve the estate. Desperate to snatch up the stunning vineyards of Domaine les Pallières, an exceptional partnership was born. This collaboration between two of France’s most talented vignerons and Lynch, with his tasting expertise, quickly skyrocketed Les Pallières to one of the most exciting domaines in the Southern Rhône.
Striving for elegance over brute strength, Les Pallières wines emphasis purity of fruit, and expressiveness of minerality. The wines are bold and beautiful–sure–yet with a drinkability that is flatly unparalleled in this warm Mediterranean region. The 2012 ‘Terrasses du Diable’ is deep and dark, with silky tannins highlighting beautifully supple fruit. With just a bit of air, this wine is a stunner to drink today with roast lamp or simple charcuterie. Make no mistake, though, it will age with the best of them.
