Night Verse is our collaboration with California winemaker Faith Armstrong. Passionate about terroir, Faith harvests early from trusted, responsible growers. This blend comes from old, organically tended vines: 80 years old for the Carignan and 65 for the Zinfandel. Refined, and a nimble companion to varied cuisines, Night Verse is as driven by place as its maker.

Eric and Lyle Railsback are no strangers to the greats: inspired by Maxime Magnon in the Languedoc and Gang of Four in Beaujolais, this 100% Carignan is fermented partially by carbonic maceration. The result is a punchy, light-bodied, and totally crushable bottle that is a perfect match for a rich holiday meal or a summer barbeque.
Joseph Swan Sonoma Rose Trenton Estate Vineyard 2019
Over 50 years ago, in rural North Dakota, Joseph Swan made his first ever ‘wine’ out of wild rhubarb, using his mother’s laundry press. Fast-forward to today, and his daughter Lynn has now taken the helm at their humble winery in Sonoma. This syrah rosé is bold and peppery, and stands up well to a summer meal of BBQ chicken.
This medium-bodied, balanced, fruity and mineral Pinot Noir is undeniably delicious. With freshness and finesse, it delivers everything we want with a roast chicken dinner. It is expressive and nuanced and we can’t get enough.
Subject to Change Mendocino Field Blend Open Hand Ranch FKA! 2020
This field blend by Subject to Change winemaker Alex Pomerantz uses fruit from Mark Rogero’s Open Hand Vineyard, a 10-acre family-run farm devoted to cultivating biodiversity. It has strawberry notes and a bit of salinity that makes us think of the best days of summer. We imagine that Mark’s farm takes its name from Le Corbusier’s Open Hand sculpture, which symbolized peace and unity. If so, it provides an excellent example of how to enjoy this bottle.
Matthiasson makes some of our favorite California wines - period. For them, winemaking is an extension of farming, so their wines are meant to be refreshing & complement food. Their Linda Vista Chardonnay is pure honey, apple & peach on the nose with a fleshy, balanced palate.
Ellison Estate Vineyards are located right in Stowe, producing some of our favorite local wines at the moment. Bright, tart, and rustic, this lightly effervescent pet-nat is made from 100% marquette grapes, adapted perfectly for the cold Vermont climate. But don’t worry, this fun and fizzy wine is perfect for drinking in hot Vermont summers as well!
Subject to Change Mendocino White Bonfiglio Vineyard Unsung Hero 2020
This blend is a mix of whole-cluster and destemmed grapes that are fermented, on their skins, for three weeks, hence the color reminiscent of sliced, dried oranges. It also accounts for the grip this wine has — it’s not something you chug. Instead, try Unsung Hero with a rich beef stew for dinner, or a casual cheese-board lunch with freshly baked bread, goat cheese from Sage Farm in Stowe, and Rosette de Lyon salami.

Tucked away in California’s Gabilan mountains lies Coastview Vineyard, a high elevation site that overlooks Monterey Bay. Subject to Change Wine Company bought this vineyard as their first project outside of Mendocino County, to show what great heights can do to transform Chardonnay. This Rudd Cabernet Sauvignon is quintessential “Napa Cab” with our favorite twist: low intervention, sustainable farming practices. Fine tannins and ample acidity form the structure of this wine, while ripe red fruit delivers freshness on the palate. This is an incredible example of agability in wine - drink now or hang on to it as it’s only getting better.
