Beaujolais

Beaujolais

Let’s hear it for the rebels! The downright disruptors.

Marcel Lapierre, Jean Foillard, Jean-Paul Thévenet, and Guy Breton are the Gang of Four. Each one came of age in an era where Beaujolais was best known for overproduced, cheap bulk wine. But when their time came, they lit the fire of revolution! They promoted organic farming, no chemical use, and put considered thought into the question: what ends up in the glass? These practices now inform a whole generation of younger winemakers, from New World to Old. Let’s raise a glass of Beaujolais (or four?) to the fathers of modern natural wine in France.
