Funaro Rosato 2020
STORY
Funaro Winery has a motto: “We start from the soil. Every day.” This estate comprises three different parcels of land over the region of Sicily. Some sites are specifically dedicated to olive groves, some are for wine production only. Each site has been intentionally selected, certified organic and worked by hand. If you were to be transported to a Sicilian villa for a day, you would find these bottles adorning the table. Simply put, these wines overdeliver. Sicily is overflowing with outstanding producers right now and wine drinkers are responding enthusiastically. It makes perfect sense. The Island has reliable sunshine, benefits from coastal breezes, and has moderate rainfall, all things that a successful wine growing region needs. This bottle from Funaro will deliver all that you crave and more!
HOW TO
Funaro has delivered a stunner of a rosé and just in time for the start of summer! Consisting of a 100% Nero d'Avola, this rosé is exceptionally fresh. This is due to the limited amount of time it sees in contact with the skins, spending only 2-3 hours in contact after the juice is soft pressed. The fermentation continues in steel tanks at a constant temperature of 15ºC on lees until eventually being filtered and left to mature in stainless steel. This aging process preserves so much of its youthful vibrancy. When in the glass it shines with a zesty energy, being extremely refreshing and easy to drink. This bottle is the one that always seems to disappear the quickest, even if you are enjoying it on your own.

Winemaker Florent Boutin’s light hand in production and generations of experience has him producing some extremely lively expressions of Languedoc terroir. This crisp white arrived just in time for the summer weather ahead and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.The Languedoc is currently in the midst of a renaissance. The region had been known for producing bulk wine at a low cost for the country of France. Around 1970 the local winemakers began to shift its practices to raise the level of production quality to a higher standard, this led to many winemakers in the current generation to begin practicing low intervention organic farming. Now the Languedoc is responsible for producing the largest percentage of organic wine in France.
