For decades Spanish wine has fallen victim to to embracing whatever fashion was trending on the international market. Oak, extraction, loads of alcohol: the “Parkerification" of Spain was almost impossible to miss. What wasn’t as easy to find was the soul of Spanish wine.
The New Spain centers around wine that could only come from its place. This next generation of Spanish winemakers is committed to making wine that once again that speaks to the terroir - or terruño - hunting for new plots of land, uncovering derelict, difficult to farm vineyards that might not be the easiest to work with but that will produce gorgeous, singular wines. There is a renaissance happening in Spain and the producers in this collection exemplify what it means to be part of the movement that is redefining Spanish wine.
