Scar of the Sea is a tiny outfit from the wild sweep of San Luis Obispo on California’s Central Coast. There, Mikey and Gina Giugni craft small lots of terroir-driven wines. Everything they do is influenced by the raging Pacific just miles from their vineyard sites—the unique geology, the cool morning fog, the coastal climate—and you can taste it in the wines.
This Chardonnay is made exclusively for Dedalus by the winemaking power couple, and comes from the Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. Blue skies above, sandy soils below, and strong ocean breezes are the ticket to fresh Chardonnay that showcases a new side of California.
